Signs of a king

Solomon rode his father David's mule, before being anointed king (1 Kg 1:38-39)

when Jehu was anointed king, the men put their garments under Jehu’s feet (2 Kg 9:13)

rode a donkey and colt to enter Jerusalem (Mt 21:7)

most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road for Jesus (Mt 2187)

Branches as a sign of victory

branches were raised, during the purification of the temple, by Judas Maccabeus and his followers (2 Mac 10:7)

when the Jerusalem citadel was regained by Simon Maccabeus, the Jews entered with praise and palm branches (1 Mac 10:51)

branches were cut from the trees and were spread on the road for Jesus (Mt 21:8)
