Jesus the new Passover Lamb
John 1:29 “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Exodus 12 The Passover
Spotless: male lamb without blemish (Ex 12:5); Jesus is the lamb of God (Jn 1:29) and sinless (Heb 4:15, 9:14; 1 Pet 1:19)
Sacrificed: the lamb for the exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt (Ex 12:6); Jesus for the new exodus of all from slavery of sin (Jn 1:29)
Blood shed: the lamb's blood on the doorposts and lintel (Ex 12:7); Jesus's blood shed on the cross (Lk 22:20)
Hyssop branch used: to smear lamb's blood on doorposts and lintel (Ex 12:22); to give sour wine to Jesus on the cross (Jn 19:29)
Eaten: the lamb’s flesh with bread (Ex 12:8); Jesus’s body in the Eucharist (Lk 22:19)
Life-giving  food: eaten by the Israelites so the angel of death would pass over their homes during the final plague in Egypt (Ex 12:12-13); the Eucharist is the bread of eternal life (Jn 6:51)
No bones broken: lamb (Ex 12:46); Jesus on the cross (Jn 19:33)
A memorial to God for the exodus: Passover day (Ex 12:14); the institution of the Eucharist (Lk 22:19)
