The Holy Trinity in the Temple
Dwelling place of God with his people: God the Father in the Tabernacle (Ex 40:34; 1 Kg 8:10-11); Jesus, the Word, tabernacled among us (Jn 1:14); the Holy Spirit in the baptised (Acts 2:4,38) the temple of the living God (2 Cor 6:16)
God the Father as the Glory Cloud in the Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle (Ex 40:34-35) behind a veil (Ex 40:21)
The Son as the visible face of God: the symbolic bread of the Presence on a table (Ex 25:30) placed outside the veil in the Holy Place (Ex 26:35); Jesus’s real presence in the Eucharist (Mt 26:26; Jn 6:48-51) at mass and in the tabernacles of churches.
The Holy Spirit as a flame: a golden lampstand (Ex 25:31) with seven lamps (Ex 25:37) placed outside the veil in the Holy Place (Ex 26:35) and burning regularly (Ex 27:20); the tongues of fire at Pentecost (Acts 2:3-4)
