Raised to great honour to become queen: Esther by king Ahasuerus (Est 2:17): Mary as Queen of Heaven, Queen Mother to the King of Kings (Rev 12:1)
Intercessor: Esther's uncle Mordecai requests her help with the king (Est 4); through Mary to Jesus (Jn 2:3-5)
Exempted from harsh law: apart from Esther no one could come before the king uninvited (Est 4:11; 5:2f-2k); Mary is full of grace and so free from original sin (Lk1:28)
