Baptism the new Circumcision

Colossians 2:11-12 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.

• Sign of a covenant with God: for Abraham's offspring (Gen 17:10-11); for the Church (Mt 28:19)

• Covenant family includes children: circumcision of eight-day old males (Gen 17:12); infant baptism based on faith of parents (Acts 2:38-39)

• Natural / supernatural action: circumcision is performed by human hands (Gen 17:23-27); baptism is a spiritual circumcision through Jesus (Col 2:11)
