by his brethren the Jewish leaders (Mt 26:3-5)

In Jesus's parable of the tenants the treatment of the master's son (representing Jesus) was similar to Joseph

"Come, let us kill him" said by Joseph's brothers (Gen 37:20) .

 

they "took him and threw him" into a pit (Gen 37:24)

also said by the wicked tenants, representing the Jewish leaders (Mt 21:38)

 

they "took him and threw him" out of the vineyard (Mt 21:39)

Cast down and raised up

thrown into a pit (term for Sheol) and then lifted up out of it (Gen 37:24,28)
