Catholic Typology
Typology
Jesus and the New Testament authors used typology to show how the Old Testament foreshadowed the New and how the New Testament fulfilled the Old.

The New Testament antitype (e.g. Jesus) fulfils or completes the truth of the Old Testament type (e.g. Adam).

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church 128-130, typology, which is throughout the bible, shows that God’s plan from the beginning was centred on Jesus.
