Jesus the new Red Heifer

Hebrews 9:13-14 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

Numbers 19

• Pure: red heifer without defect and blemish and never been yoked (Num 19:2); Jesus is sinless (Heb 4:15, 9:14; 1 Pet 1:19)

• Killed outside the camp/city: the heifer by the priests (Num 19:3); Jesus on the cross outside Jerusalem's city gates (Heb 13:11-12)

• Cleansed people: the ashes of the heifer were added to the water that purified people contaminated with death (Num 19:9); the blood of Jesus cleansed us from all our sins (1 Jn 1:7) and its consequences death (Rom 6:23)
